Raw Chocolate

By Susan Schenck

This raw chocolate recipe tastes great, is only about 140 calories, takes about 1 minute to prepare, and is actually good for you! The raw chocolate has monounsaturated fatty acids, which help burn belly fat. The coconut butter has been scientifically proven to help boost the metabolism to burn fat. This medium-chain fatty saturated fat (MCT) is used by athletes and dieters for energy and for converting fat into energy.

One study showing that MCTs help keep weight down is “Overfeeding with medium-chain triglycerides in the rat” (Metabolism, 1987). The study points out that the body is less inclined to store fat with MCTs and that eating them is even better than a low fat diet at decreasing stored fat.

1 heaping teaspoon raw cacao powder (Buy it in powder form, or grind some cacao nibs into powder in a coffee grinder.)
1 heaping tablespoon raw coconut butter
1 packet stevia, a no-calorie plant sweetener<

Blend together by hand. Garnish with shredded coconut, or a couple of raspberries or strawberries.
