21st Chocolate Bar season at The Lanham, Boston
features Best Neighborhood Desserts



 
 


The 21st season of The Langham, Boston’s Chocolate Bar begins Saturday, September 12 with a ne w theme and under the direction of a new pastry chef, Jed Hackney. This season explores Boston’s famous neighborhoods with a wonderland of chocolate creations.

Some desserts return for the 21st year, while others are new to the Chocolate Bar. Participants can sample bite-size desserts from Chinatown, the North End, Faneuil Hall, Back Bay, Beacon Hill, the South End, and Fenway Park.

“Boston’s diverse neighborhoods inspire me on a regular basis,” says Chef Hackney. “There are so many unique areas in Boston. This Chocolate Bar season, we are creating our own versions of the best desserts in our city.”

Sample desserts from Boston’s Chocolate Trail include

  • North End: Bittersweet Chocolate Chestnut Mousse, an assortment of Italian Cookies, and Zuccotto, a layered pastry cream and sponge cake.

  • Faneuil Hall: The Langham, Boston’s signature dessert Chocolate Croissant Bread Pudding, Boston Cream Pie, and Chocolate Maple Pecan Tartlets.

  • Chinatown: Dessert Sushi in chocolate, mango, strawberry, and green tea flavors as well as Five Spice Chocolate Soup and Mango, and White Chocolate Pudding.

  • Fenway Park: Chocolate Covered Peanuts and Ice Cream Sandwiches.

Chef Jed Hackney recently joined the culinary team at The Langham, Boston and draws his inspiration and pastry philosophy from local flavors and foods. Born in upstate New York near his grandmother’s apple and cherry orchard and farm, Hackney grew up with the farm culture. It was the local produce and time spent cooking with his grandmother that inspired his passion for food. His childhood was spent in Vermont and he credits the area for helping develop his culinary style.

The Chocolate Bar in Cafe Fleuri is every Saturday from September 12, 2009 through June 26, 2010. Reservations are strongly suggested and are available at 11:00 a.m., 11:30 a.m., 1:00 p.m., and 1:30 p.m. To make a reservation for the Chocolate Bar, call 617-451-1900, extension 7125.
