I love chocolate. So attending a chocolate
festival is a peak experience for me. I have been lucky enough to
judge the Kona Chocolate Festival twice and I learned some chocolate
festival tips that I would like to share with you.
1. Be prepared. Since I know I frequently
attend chocolate events, I have collected a wardrobe of chocolate
garments. I like to wear either dark chocolate or milk chocolate
clothes. But if you are an infrequent chocolate taster, you might be
happy with a chocolate dyed T-Shirt from Crazy Shirts. If you pack
them in your suitcase, all your clothes will have a subtle hint of
chocolate for days.

2. Pick up or order a bar of chocolate soap to
cleanse other flavors from your body.

3. Get a chocolate manicure (chocolate colored
polish is available at the spa at Outrigger Keauhou Beach resort.)
That way if you lick your fingers, no one will notice.

4. Prepare your palate. Abstain from any
chocolate for a week ahead, unless it is the three-course chocolate
meal at Huggo's. http://www.huggos.com/
5. Attend some of the chocolate workshops that
are a part of the Kona Chocolate Festival.

6. The best bargain of all is the gala for the
Kona Chocolate Festival held on Saturday April 4, 2009. You can get
dozens of tastes of chocolate and wine for $40, if you book ahead.
If you are unable to get there for this one, remember that this is
an annual event.

7. If you see someone who is covered in brown
from head to toe, please say hi. It might be me. Or at least another
chocolate lover.
8. Enjoy. Remember that people now realize
chocolate is good for you.
9. Don't resist. You can diet tomorrow.
